DIY Harry Potter Trunk
Information
The decorative storage box was found at Michaels Craft Stores. I believe Joann Fabric & Craft Stores carries them as well but I found Michaels Craft Stores had more size options. The other supplies like the studs, buckles, and fabric was found at Joann Fabric & Craft Stores. I used a dark-brown/black leather fabric for the straps of the trunk and a medium brown colored leather fabric for the actual trunk. The matte brown spray paint and Mod Podge I got at Walmart.
(1) For my trunk, I first spray painted the entire box, besides the outside part of the lid since I was going to be adding the fabric to it. (2) Then I painted a layer of Mod Podge to all the areas I spray-painted, because I found that the paint can scratch off if you skip this step. (3) I only attached the leather material to the lid and back part of the box. I used hot glue because it works best with the leather fabric. (4) I put a dot of hot glue before I gently hammered a stud in to make sure it stayed secure. I added studs to all the corners. (5) Hot glue is used again to attach the leather straps to the leather on the trunk back and lid. I also added two strap pieces to the front of the trunk and had the straps from the lid hanging over. (6) I attached the buckles to the straps hanging from the lid and attached Velcro to the back of the straps to secure the lid close. (7) I used the matte Mod Podge to attach all the printouts to the top and underside of the lid as well as the book pages to the inside of the box.
I did feel slightly remorseful ripping the chapter pages from Harry Potter & the Sorcerer’s Stone, but then I got over it cause the inside turned out really neat.

Just like the box for the trunk, I found the hollow storage book box at Michaels Craft Stores. The other supplies such as the fur & brown eyes can be found at Joann Fabric & Craft Stores.
E600 glue is best for gluing the fur fabric to the book because it is more flexible for opening and closing the cover than the hot glue is. The hot glue I used to glue the title and eyes to the fur.
For my "Monster Book of Monsters" book, I decided to not make the teeth but I am sure you could make some if you would like using red & white clay.

It is best if printed on thicker cardstock paper than regular printing paper.
